I haven’t been sitting still all these weeks, so here’s a quick update on some projects I’ve done the lately.

For one of Holland’s biggest newspapers I’ve build a 3D game. Goal of the game is to deliver as much as newspapers to the right houses as possible without hitting any obstacles. The game is part of an online campaign to recruit paperboys/girls for the summer holidays. A very cool project to work on, build with flash (not HTML5 ;-) using Away3dLite. As a format for the various 3d models we used the old quake2 standard MD2, in many respect perfect for the job, since there lightweight, low poly and support build-in animations. Next to the game we’ve developed a AR application whereby the marker was distributed with the newspaper and associated magazines. I did this project in cooperation with KiwiMedia.

Next, I did a nice project for Pepsi involving designing a truck. As a promotional campaign the dutch division of Pepsi decided to throw a contest for people to come up with a new design for there trucks. In cooperation with Bureau Blender I’ve build an online design-tool which allows visitors to design a truck using shapes, logos, backgrounds, text elements and photos. The winner is decided by popular vote, which can be done on the website. As an extra we’ve build in social connectivity, which the visitors can use to connect to there social profile on facebook and hyves to use the photos in their photo albums in the design-tool and to post designs on their profile.

Finally, I’ve also written a new tutorial for ActiveTuts, which gives a detailed description how to setup Flash Remoting with AMFPHP and how to store photos in a database.
